Paul Talbot is a Midlands based artist, designer and creative, producing both public and private work, in print, on screen and on skin. Paul has won a couple of design awards here and there, ‘but nothing worth braggin’ about’. He has also been nominated for a Grammy twice, is a published animal rights poet and producer of a number 1 hit single – all facts that he likes to drop into conversation whenever he can!

“I opened Custom Colour Tattoo in 2010, to provide the highest quality bespoke tattoo art. Having spent the last 15 years concentrating on graphic design projects for music business clients my tattoo art has had to take a backseat and I decided that it was about time I gave my passion for tattooing the attention it deserves.

My Studio is situated in Catshill, Bromsgrove where I offer professional custom tattoo art for everyone. From first-timers to serious collectors, every piece is designed for each client and I never repeat a custom tattoo. When I say one-off, I mean it.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What days do you work?

• Mon 12- 6, Tues 2-9, Thurs 12-6, Fri 12-6, Sat 12-6. Closed Wed and Sunday. Evening appointments are also available on request.

Is your studio clean?

• Absolutely! The Studio is Health Authority registered and fully insured. All supplies and needles are disposable and I promise a latex free environment.

What are your rates?

• I prefer to agree a fee for the completed piece, rather than charge per hour. This approach means that neither of us have to worry about how long it takes and allows for a more relaxed environment.

Can I get tattooed under 18 with parental consent?

• ABSOLUTELY NOT. It is shop policy and also THE LAW.

How do I go about getting a custom drawn tattoo?

• Stop into the shop with any kind of reference material you may have. Anything from printed off images on the Web to your own sketches will be helpful. For lettering, check out www.dafont.com which has thousands of fonts and allows you to preview them with your specific text. Most custom drawings are completed within a week. ** A deposit may be required for complicated pieces. **

How do I set an appointment?

• I DO NOT SET APPOINTMENTS UP VIA MYSPACE OR EMAIL. For new clients, you must stop in so I can judge the size, time it will take, and the price of the tattoo.

What if I have to cancel my appointment?

• A simple call is all I ask. One days notice is fine, but the earlier you let me know the better. I understand that tattoos are a luxury and things pop up in life. NO CALL, NO SHOWS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

What will I need/do for my appointment?

• Be on time. Have a good meal. Be sober. And BRING your PHOTO ID with you. Also, for longer sessions wear comfortable clothes. Note: Remember there’s always a chance that tattoo residue (ink, blood, ointment, etc) may get on your clothes.

Will you tattoo anything?

• Sorry, NO! I refuse to tattoo areas where ink will not stay. For example: hands, the bottom of feet, toes, inside the lip, and ears. I also do not to do faces. As far as subject matter goes, I will not do gang symbols, swastikas, “property of,” or “power” tattoos. In addition, I will not rework any of those, but will happily cover them up. In the case that I am uncomfortable or feel a different artist may be more suitable, I am more than happy to refer you to another artist.

So you do cover ups?

• Yes, I do. However, cover ups tend to take more planning on my end and more leniency on yours. I must physically see the design to best work out the cover up.

Do you do touch-ups?

• Within the first three months I will touch up your tattoo for £10 (which covers the needles and inks, etc.)

Do you touch-up other artist’s work?

• Yes, I do.
